Any suggestions on getting ground hogs to find a new home besides under my deck?
My husband wants to terminate them, but I would like to find a friendlier way to ask them to find a new home. I don’t want to harm them. My husband is afraid they will bring ticks and fleas around our house and then to our dog.
We are using Critter Ridder to keep them from eating our plants, flowers and vegetables, but I caught a little one on our deck two days ago. Any suggestions on other products to use to make them uncomfortable?

Husband’s right. A .22 is usually the best solution.

Groundhogs under the deck. That is rare. Usually they will not live that close to people or that much activity. If they are groundhogs you need to get them away from your house. Ticks will be the least of your problems if they start to undermine your foundation. There are a number of chemicals you can use to make it uncomfortable for them to live there. You can start with any number of rodent repellents that you can get at garden supply stores. If you have a dog it would help. Sounds like you have some bold groundhogs.

I don’t know how close your neighbors are but the make something called a propane cannon to keep animals away that you could use until they are gone: http://www.suttonag.com/Zon.html#
You can turn it off at night when you go to sleep.
