Is it possible to live in a completely toxin free environment today?

If there is any way to live in a pure and toxin free environment today? People today are being poisoned by pollutants and toxins in the air, water, food, household cleaners, etc. In the past there was none of this. Where and how can I live completely free of any kind of toxic chemicals and other poisons? Is there anywhere in the developed world where the air is still pure and clean?
What is better for the environment, to discard of garbage in the garbage disposal or to put it in the plastic?

How does turning down the heat in my home help the environment?

I am doing a conservation project for school and i don’t know how turning down my heat would benefit the environment. I just need 2 simple reasons (they only need to be one sentence each). I know that turning down the heat is saving energy but I don’t really get how that is helping the environment?
