Why would your family keep a secret from you ?

I sense that there is a huge secret in my family. That is because they seem ta talk around a subject when it comes up. It is sort of like they are using code words or something. Feels like maybe I am the only one that is not in on the secret – don’t know why. It seem silly that they would keep a family secret – particularly from a nother family member. Can anyone think of a good reason why they might do this?
