How do I get rid of mice that have invaded my home?

I have moved into a home and it has a real problem with mice. I have tried various methods of getting rid of them from traps to poison and they will not leave. To tell you the truth, I don’t think that the poison did anything. I see that the poison has been eaten, but then I find green mouse droppings which to me means that the poison just passed right through! How easy is it to remove a smoking smell from a home?

We are looking at a home to purchase. Smokers lived there previously and it still has an odor. There is no furniture in it anymore, and the carpets have been cleaned. I am told by the agent that it will fade. I am told by a friend that it will not ever completely go away. Will I have to repaint every surface/replace all flooring/ etc.? Help me out please.

Earwigs are the most foul of insects. I have a new house constructed 5 years ago; so far, nary an earwig in view, however, how can I discourage their entry? I used to buy mills pride cabinets at home depot but they dont carry them anymore. Where can I get a cheap white ready to assembly cabinet without doors. Specifically looking for 36″x12″ or 36″W x15″H. I have tried a google search. Seems mills pride just forwards to home depot who does not carry them anymore.
