How does someone learn about politics?
May 8th
I registered for an American Politics class for summer but I am really interested in learning the basics beforehand. I’m 25 and I feel kind of dumb for not knowing this stuff.
What is a good book I can read to learn the basics?

Who else hates politics, but feels the need to keep informed?
May 7th
I despise politics, the discussion of politics makes me sick to the stomach. It is all lies or distortions of the truth. Yet, I try to keep attention as part of my civil duty. Anyone else feel the same, or does filtering through this BS keep you entertained?
Does your astrological sign affect or influence the way you view your politics?
May 6th
I never researched this, but I was wondering if one’s astrological Sun sign could perhaps influence how an individual views politics. What are your thoughts?
How to I begin learning about US politics?
May 6th
I really want to learn about US politics. I don’t have anything specific in mind, since I know virtually nothing about politics. There is just so much to learn about US politics that I don’t know where to begin. Any tips? (preferably something easy to understand since I’m young and, as I said, I know nothing about politics) Specific websites/magazines/books would be excellent. I have absolutely no idea which websites are reliable sources and which aren’t. Thanks!
Why do politicians on both sides continue doing tired old attack politics?
May 6th
A Republican gets in office and the Democrats attack, attack, attack, complain, criticize, and denounce. A Democrat gets in office and the Republicans attack, attack, complain and criticize. Whether its a war or a economic issue, the guy in office never gets it right (according to the other side). What ever happened to setting aside politics and doing the job? Don’t they know that voters get very tired and jaded with the same old BS?
Is it smart that I learned to not care about politics and not vote?
May 6th
I learned that a while ago that all politicians are lying arseholes and that my vote is meaningless. Obviously people have different opinions on the importance of politics, but I have other ways of informing myself on the current events in the world. Is this mindset wrong?
Why does the discussion of American politics, on this site and many others, often end with discrimination?
May 4th
Sometimes, I look at this site to view the opinions of the like-minded i.e. those who are actually concerned with politics, the U.S., etc. Too often, I am disappointed by irrational remarks plagued by sexism, racism and even intolerance for others’ religion. Why is that? Do the questions in this section draw a bigoted crowd or are people just generally ignorant and I’ve been naive to hope otherwise?
Do you talk politics with those who have different views?
May 4th
I have talked politics in the past with my friends, and it would often turn into heated debates with hurt feelings. Are you able to talk about hot button issues with friends/family/etc?
What is the life of politics really like?
May 3rd
I’m 13, and have a few career options I want to learn about. One of them is in politics. If you are, were, or know someone in politics, I would appreciate any info you can give me. What’s good, bad, etc. And please don’t sugar-coat it because of my age, I need to know. Just the truth, as much you can give me.
~Thanks!
