How to be a good Humane Society volunteer?

I will be volunteering with my local Humane Society in the near future. How can I be the best volunteer I can be? I love all animals, but what can I do to make them as comfortable with me as possible? Also, any fun things I can do with the animals?
Does religion cause people in society to be intimidated by science and distrustful of scientists?

Is the result of this a society where people take counsel from fools and are amused by learned men? If so, can you see how this is completely backwards? Fools are there to amuse us and learned men are there to advise us; not the other way around, right?

I don’t get it. Society today views sex as a bad thing. People would label you as “trashy” if you sleep around. And religion too views sex as “sinful” if we’re not married. Nature hardwired human beings to have sex, but then society is making it seem like it’s something terrible and trashy. Why is that?

What do you think is the main problem that would help the most if changed within society? Whether its from laws, virtues, principles, sin, etc

How have mythological tales of heroism changed over time, and shaped society in its course?

The question basically explains it all. I’m looking for a wide variety of mythological tales involving heroes and such, from different time periods as well as regions of the world. I’m also looking for clues as to how these tales have shaped society, and what changes they’ve endured overtime. Examples of types of tales I’m looking for (very general): Superman, Norse myths, Greek myths, etc… Thanks!
