How to convince my parents to let me play violent video games?
Im thirteen and my parents are christian. I want to play games that are rated M and Teen. They let me watch movies that are rated pg-13 and rated R if that helps. I also get A’s in school and I have excellent reports from my teachers.

“it’s just a game and i can tell th difference between that and real life, besides, everyone needs some type of let-out or stress reliever” tell them that and it doesn’t work then you ain’t getin it

Parents see you as their little innocent baby… Let them know that you’re not innocent, and that you’re not going to see anything on those games that you don’t already know about, and let them know that these games won’t influence you to rob a car or shoot someone.

try to reason with them saying that you would never do any of those things and its only fun

hmmm. Tell them why you like the game besides the violence? Tell them you don’t like the violence but the game has some good things besides it and you really want to play it. If you act like you want to play a game because it is violent your parents will only become more concerned.

tell them it wont affect you in school and that you know it is for just entertainment so it wont screw you up mentally

It’s hard to give suggestions on such a matter. If I had a direct conversation with your parents, I could be much more helpful.

Depending on which of your parents are cooler ask them first and then just be nice and do extra chores around the house

Alright you have to prove that the games will not hurt your christian background. You have to prove that games are not real and that they will not have a negative outcome on your life.
You need to prove that nothing will change after playing older video games.
There are reasons for parents not allowing their children play higher rated games. They might not think you are ready for it. Talk with your parents. Ask them what you can do to play these games. If you hold up your end of the bargain you will be playing these games in no time.

Well parents are thinking that the things in the violent video games you are going to do in real life but tell them you not going to do any of those things and say you know that the video game is not real

If its a game like halo then tell them its killing aliens that don’t exist.Tell them your smart enough not to turn into a physco and kill people from violent videogames. If they wont let you have M games than say that the people who rate the games kind of over react with the ratings(which is true).Halo 3 is a good game by the way so it might be good to try the 1st suggestion.
