Why do some cars have discs brakes in the rear while others have drum?

Is it based on the overall weight of a vehicle because I’ve noticed that most smaller cars have drums in the rear. I happen to like drum brakes. They require less maintenance and I have never had an issue with stopping although I know that disc brakes provide better stopping power.

I want to get a good used car for under $5000. Which manual transmissions hold their value best/ have best mileage/ shift well? This will be my second car. I had a Jeep Cherokee 5 speed but it didn’t last very long.. So I want something better. I do not like weird looking sports cars hah, I’m not a dude. But other than that, I will buy pretty much anything (: Thanks for your suggestions!

My cousin is getting into the whole car ordeal and wants to know what programs that he can purchase to help him with cars such as what they use at auto part stores and stuff. He also mentioned a program that was able to run diagnostics on any car. Is there anything out there like this?

I need parts and Prizms arent very common… I can get door handles and such from a junkyard off an old prizm but what other cars can i use to customize and change things?

What are the duties of a car company who has accident-prone cars? Are there any laws and punishment to those who fail to inform the clients about the dangers of the cars when it is proven to have a possible accident-prone part?
Are the cars sold in Korea different from the ones sold in the United States?

My girlfriend says that cars sold in Korea from Hyundai and Kia (Korean companies) are far worse than the same models that they sell in the USA. She also says its cheaper to buy the cars here and have them shipped over to Korea. Is there any truth to this? I have a hard time believing that they would sell cheaper made cars in their home countries, and that it would be still cheaper to buy the car her, pay taxes, then pay shipping to Korea than just buying one in Korea.

I want to get a classic car like a classic VW Beetle or an Austin Mini, something with real character and not a typical first car like a Peugeot 106. Have you any suggestions on some cheap cars to insure and ones that you can buy the car for less than about £600-700 used? Thanks.
