I am planning a baby shower. This is one of my first real big events. I want to have a variety of finger foods. I’m not sure how to figure out how much food I’ll need to buy and prepare. Does anyone know of a website or free tools, charts, or formulas to help figure out how much I’d need. Thanks to all for any help.
What are the weirdest pets people have?

I do not mean random bugs you just picked up from outside and put in a jar and given food and water for a few days then released them as I did that as a child. I mean real pets, planning to actually keep and take care of them well.

My mother is in the hospital and she will be for an extended period of time, I do not know how long. Are there any shelters that can take pets till their owners are able to care for them again?
Why are people in the politics section so homophobic and religious?

It seems like even the religion and spirituality section is more liberal than the politics section, its like all the religious people migrated to the politics section,and all the liberals are in the religion and spirituality section, The politics section is dominated by religious conservatives. If you go to the religion and spirituality section you will get eaten alive by liberals, here in the politics section you get eaten alive and overwhelmed by religious conservatives.

When you’re long term single by choice all you get from your friends and family is ‘you haven’t met the right person yet’ ‘you’ll meet someone’ and other such rubbish. What’s the best way to ignore them/ deal with them?

If you look at the pattern of accepted taboos or minorities, it goes thusly: women, blacks, gays. Once women were granted their rights, they were eligible for racism alongside the males. Once blacks were granted their rights, they were eligible for homophobia alongside whites. What minority will gays pick on once they are granted their rights and accepted in society? Or do you think the trend will end with gay people?
Is society better or worse if people can’t criticize Jews for fear of being sacked?

This is what I mean by free speech. Sure, the government can’t take away your right to say what you feel is the truth, but if you’ll lose your career by speaking the truth then society has achieved what the government has not – censorship. Are you happy living in a society where people are too afraid to say what they believe is the truth about Jews?
