I’m 18 years old and start community college at the end of August. I have selected courses toward an Associates Degree in Disability Specialization. These courses are the required English 101, Math 095 (because I had some trouble with algebra), General Psychology, Children with Disabilities, and Introduction to Human Services. Do disability specialists tend to work with other professionals, such as special education teachers and psychologists?

Is it common for mental health professionals to have a personal history of mental illness?

I know some people that work in the mental health field do have a history of mental illness, some that I have met are currently on antidepressants, but because they have their illness under control they are perfectly fine. Is this common, and if you were looking to get into a career in mental health would having a personal history of mental illness benefit you because maybe you could relate to your clients/patients better?

I am working on a health project, specifically addressing the discriminatory practices on people by medical professionals. My teacher wants an “interview” with a medical professional.
Can anyone tell me about any common discriminatory practices you’ve seen/experienced, and how they affect the patient? (possibly short term and long term effects?)

I was reading in a magazine that white men make over 85% of professionals (every field) in America today and rest races together 15% of them,is that true?Any sources?If that’s true then damn white men own almost everything!
