Where can I find out about an old news story?
A family member of mine died pretty tragically in the 1990′s and its not takled about in our family. Im wondering where I can find a news article online about what happened. It was in the early 90′s in the Florida keys. It was an apparent murder suicide. I’ve tried googling it but I get nothing. Thanks so much.

Most newspapers are kept on microfiche. Like a film that you can roll down and read, on a special reading machine. What would have been the local papers at that time? How close can you date it? You can go to the libraries and ask for the microfiche of the newspapers. Could it have been front page news? That will speed things up as you are going thru the papers, if you just scan the front pages. Hope this helps.

Contact someone from the newspaper in that area. They should have records or tell you where they are stored. Most info from that time isn’t online yet, most newspapers were just saving records on microfilm copies. If they can’t help, they can probably tell you how to contact the local library or genealogical society in that area that might help. Good luck!
