I have heard you need to routes of egress when you have a basement bedroom. Do the stairs to the upstairs count as one? The basement in our future home has windows that open downstairs, but they are only big enough for an average sized person to squeeze out of. The basement is also a walk out basement – would that door count as a 2nd exit? Or do you think we’d have to get larger windows?
